WHO NEEDS TO APPEAR IN JKTET

Fresh candidates need to qualify JKTET before applying for

• Primary Teacher posts
• Upper Primary Teacher posts
• School Education Department vacancies

Without JKTET qualification your application gets rejected during recruitment.


JKTET RULE FOR IN SERVICE TEACHERS

If you are already working as

• ReT teacher
• Contractual teacher
• Academic arrangement teacher

You still need JKTET qualification for

• Regularization
• Promotion
• Future recruitment under new rules

Teachers without JKTET face difficulty during confirmation or promotion process.


ELIGIBILITY FOR FRESH CANDIDATES

Paper 1

• 12th pass with minimum 50 percent marks
• 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education passed or appearing

Paper 2

• Graduation with minimum 50 percent marks
• B.Ed passed or appearing

Jammu and Kashmir domicile is compulsory.


ELIGIBILITY FOR IN SERVICE TEACHERS

You can apply even if you are already teaching in government school.

You need

• B.Ed or D.El.Ed qualification
• Valid domicile
• Required academic qualification

In service status does not exempt you from JKTET.


AGE LIMIT RULE

Minimum age 18 years.

No upper age limit for appearing in JKTET.

Example

A contractual teacher aged 45 years can still appear in JKTET to become eligible for future recruitment.


CERTIFICATE VALIDITY RULE

JKTET certificate is valid for lifetime.

Earlier validity was 7 years.

You do not need to reappear after qualifying once.

Paper 1 for classes 1 to 5

• 150 questions
• 150 marks
• 2.5 hours
• No negative marking

Paper 2 for classes 6 to 8

• 150 questions
• 150 marks
• 2.5 hours
• No negative marking


MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS

General category needs 60 percent.

SC ST RBA ALC IB category needs 55 percent.

Example

General category needs 90 marks out of 150.

Reserved category needs 82 marks out of 150.


WHEN IN SERVICE TEACHERS GET REJECTED

During document verification due to

• No JKTET certificate
• Mismatch in name or date of birth
• Invalid category certificate
• Degree from unrecognized institute
